Thank you to all the students who applied to be a representative of their high school to the Safe Routes to School Working Group! We have reviewed all applications and have notified each student whether they were accepted as their school's representative or not. 

Recruitment will open again in spring 2025 (March or April). Sign up for Safe Routes to School eNotifications at the right to be alerted when recruitment opens.

More info: Cupertino Safe Routes to School (SR2S) incorporates high school students who are passionate about either bicycling, healthy lifestyles, accessibility, sustainable transportation, and/or campus safety as part of our Working Group. This group is composed of Cupertino City Staff, school staff, district administrators, parents, students, and community organizers. We recognize that once students move into high school, they become the real change-makers on their campuses. As such, we aim to include two student representatives from each of the City's high schools as a part of our group. Together this working group co-creates the Cupertino Safe Routes to School program, coming up with education, encouragement, and engineering elements to improve access to active transportation for students. We meet once per month, excluding July, August and December.

SR2S High School Grant Program

The Cupertino Safe Routes to School program provides a monetary grant of up to $500 for each high school in Cupertino each school year to support Safe Routes to School activities. The SR2 Student Representatives are responsible for coordinating the application for their school. Examples of programs or projects the Safe Routes to School High School Grant Program is helping to fund:

• Programs that encourage walking, biking, carpooling, and/or public transportation to school
• Traffic safety education for students, parents, and/or teachers
• Bicycle maintenance and safety education for students
• School bike rides 
• Programs to teach how to correctly store and lock a bicycle or scooter

This grant is enabling high school students to make a big impact at their schools!
