Fall Family Bike Fest

On September 28, 2019, Cupertino Safe Routes 2 School and the Bicycle Pedestrian Commission will host our 6th Annual Fall Family Bike Fest! This year's Bike Fest will feature a bike rodeo, free bike checks, two guided bike rides, a food truck, local bicycle vendors, bike clinics, contests, bike demos, and other fun activities. All this will happen at the City Hall parking lot from 9 AM-1 PM.

The rodeo will consist of a bicycle skills course and an obstacle course with wooden ramps to teach young riders how to ride safely. The rodeo will be hosted by leading bicycle education experts, Safe Moves, and will be held continuously from 9:30 AM - 1:00 PM.

We're offering two bike rides at the festival, which will both depart at 10:30 AM. The rides are open to families of all ages, but riders under the age of 18 will need an adult's signature on a waiver. The bike rides will be chaperoned by experienced cyclists and will start and end at Cupertino City Hall. This will allow riders to participate in the bike rodeo before and after the rides.

Local bike vendors will hold free educational clinics on the following topics:
9:15 AM - Proper Bike Fit
9:40 AM - ABC Quick Check
10:05 AM - Bike Safety Equipment
12:30 PM - How to Fix a Flat and Insert a Tube Liner

There will be several contests with the opportunity to win cool prizes:
1) Who has the lightest bike?
2) Who's bike can carry the most groceries?*
3) Whose bike can carry the most kids?

* We'll provide the groceries. All participant get a bag of chips. Winner takes home something bigger.

Local bike Vendors will be at the festival selling safety gear and letting participants try out various types of bikes: kid bikes, electric bikes, and cargo bikes for carrying kids and/or lots of stuff.

Other fun activities include bike decorating, face painting, and blender bike smoothies - made from your own pedal power!

There's no need to RSVP for this free event, just make sure to bring a bike, helmet, and arrive by 9:00 AM to sign a waiver and grab some pre-ride fuel and fun!
