The City of Cupertino, West Valley Community Services, and Step Up Silicon Valley are hosting a Poverty Simulation on Saturday, November 2 from 10 a.m. to noon at the Senior Center, 21251 Stevens Creek Boulevard. More than 30% of Santa Clara County residents cannot afford basic necessities each month without financial assistance, according to recent reports.
The Poverty Simulation immerses participants in the reality of a Silicon Valley that grows in disparity as much as prosperity. During the simulation, participants work to overcome barriers to social services, live off insufficient income, and encounter unforeseen economic obstacles along the way.
