Window Art Design 2023The Commission consists of nine members with the intention to include at least one person from each public middle school and public high school in Cupertino, if possible. Membership on the Commission is limited to Cupertino residents. Members may attend schools outside of the City limits, or be schooled at home. Commissioners must be entering grades 8 through 11 to apply. Teen Commissioners serve two-year staggered terms. The powers and functions of the Teen Commission are to advise the City Council and staff on issues and projects important to youth (also see Municipal Code 2.95.080 Powers and Functions).

  • Term Length: 2 years

Innovative Teen Entrepreneurs Program

In November 2020, The City of Cupertino is hosting a 4-week Teen Entrepreneurship program series with the American Enterprise Cupertino FBLA team.
 
Program Dates:

  • Saturday, November 21, 2 p.m. to 5 p.m.
  • Sunday,  November 22, 2 p.m. to 5 p.m.
  • Saturday, November 28, 2 p.m. to 5 p.m.
  • Sunday, November 29, 2 p.m. to 5 p.m.

Location: Zoom hosted by the City of Cupertino
 
Interested in business? Being creative and building your own company? Working with a group? If so, apply to be part of the Innovative Entrepreneurs Program through Cupertino FBLA & the City of Cupertino!

We want dedicated, hardworking students, who, in this four week program, will learn:

  • The process behind starting a business or creating a product
  • The purpose of market research and how to conduct it
  • How to construct a business plan and why it is needed
  • How to write an executive summary
  • How to write a market research summary
  • How to create and write out an implementation strategy
  • How to create and write a management and financial plan
  • How to pitch and give powerful and persuasive presentations

In this program, you will form teams and use the concepts taught in each session to think of a product/service and create a product/service idea, business plan, and presentation. Your team will present to judges, who will act as investors and evaluate each group. The winning team will receive a prize. 

Enrollment in this series will be decided by first come first serve.  To be eligible for selection, please register online between Monday, November 2 at 10 a.m. and Saturday, November 14 at 9 p.m. Please register ONLY if you will be able to attend all 4 sessions. One registration per person, please. Participants will be selected on Sunday, November 15. If you are selected, you will receive a confirmation email from the City of Cupertino. If you are selected, please RSVP no later than Tuesday, November 17.
