A notice of vacancy is posted whenever there is an opening on a Commission. Click the arrows below to see current Commission and Committee vacancies:
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that residents are encouraged to apply for positions on City of Cupertino commissions that will have vacancies in January of 2025. The application deadline is 4:00 p.m. on Friday, January 03, 2025. The City Council will conduct interviews and make appointments in late January. Commissioners are appointed by the Council and may serve a total of two consecutive 4-year terms (the Teen Commission has a different term structure). A commissioner may serve more than two consecutive terms if they have been appointed to fill a partial term of less than two years. All meetings are open to the public. The City also recruits for volunteer opportunities on various County regional bodies. To apply to serve on any of the commissions that currently have vacancies or will have vacancies in January, complete an application form. Commissions now have a specific application form which should be used instead of the general application form. The commission specific applications can be found at www.cupertino.gov/vacancies.

Powers and Functions: The Audit Committee is responsible for various financial oversight functions, including reviewing the annual audit report and management letter, the Quarterly Treasurer’s investment report, and quarterly Fraud, Waste, and Abuse Program reports. Powers and Functions: The powers and functions are to advise the City Council on all areas relating to public safety, traffic, and police, fire and other matters relating to the foregoing. TEEN COMMISSION
Eligibility Requirements: The Teen Commission is comprised of nine members, at least one person from each public middle school and public high school in Cupertino, if possible. Membership on the Commission is limited to Cupertino residents. Members may attend schools outside of the City limits, or be schooled at home. Commissioners must be in the 8th through 11th grade at time of appointment. None of the Teen Commissioners shall be otherwise officials or employees of the City of Cupertino nor be related by blood or marriage to any official or employee of the City. Commissioners should reflect the broadest possible representation of Cupertino youth. Teen Commissioners serve two-year staggered terms.
Powers and Functions: The powers and functions of the Teen Commission are to advise the City Council and staff on issues and projects important to youth (also see Municipal Code 2.95.080 Powers and Functions).
Meeting Schedule: Regular meetings are scheduled September through August, once monthly (except December) for a total of 12 meetings on the second Wednesday of the month at 6:00 p.m. at the Quinlan Community Center, 10185 N.
