Home MenuMirage (Apple Park Artwork)
At its October 15, 2013 adjourned regular meeting, the Cupertino City Council approved the Apple Park project. As part of City Council Resolution No. 13-084 under DP-2011-04 Condition 28, public artwork is required, to be reviewed and approved by the Fine Arts Commission prior to installation.
The applicant, Apple, Inc., is proposing to locate the artwork at the Apple Park Visitor Center within Apple Park, located at 10600 N. Tantau Avenue. The artwork, a sculpture titled "Mirage", consists of over 400 cast-glass cylinders made from sand originating from 58 deserts around the world. The cylinders will be installed side-by-side and weave through the existing olive tree grove alongside a new pedestrian pathway to create an interactive experience for visitors.
