Development Requirements - Through the use of Low Impact Development (LID) Techniques all projects are encouraged to include site design and source control measures to reduce stormwater runoff pollution. Since December 1, 2012, all development projects which create and/or replace > or = 2,500 sf to < 10,000 sf of impervious surface (roof, sidewalk, patio etc.) and detached single family homes which create or replace 2,500 sf or more of impervious surface are required to install one or more of the following design measures:
- Direct roof runoff onto vegetated areas (this is a standard condition of approval, unless infeasible);
- Direct roof runoff into cisterns or rain barrels for reuse;
- Direct runoff from sidewalks, walkways, and/or patios onto vegetated areas;
- Direct runoff from driveways and/or uncovered parking lots onto vegetated area;
- Construct sidewalks, walkways and/or patios with permeable surfaces
- Construct bike lanes, driveways and or uncovered parking lots with permeable surfaces
