Spelling Bee 2025 Event Information
The Cupertino Spelling Bee is a spelling contest organized by the Cupertino Parks and Recreation Department and the Cupertino Youth Activity Board. The purpose of this community event is to give students an educationally enriching opportunity. Please note that our spelling bee is not affiliated with the National Scripps Spelling Bee and we cannot sponsor or send winners to the National Spelling Bee. Dates & Times
Saturday, January 18, 2025
2nd and 3rd Grade - 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. (end time will vary)
4th and 5th Grade - 3:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. (end time will vary)
Note: This year’s event may not be recorded due to staffing constraints.
Pricing
Spelling Bee participants - $15 (Cupertino residents only)
Spelling Bee spectators - $5* or donate a food item to the West Valley Community Services Barrel at check-in on the day of the event.
*Note: Registration for participants AND spectators is required prior to the event. Registration can be done either in-person at the Quinlan Community Center front office, or online.
Spelling Bee 2024 Event Recap
On Saturday, January 20, 2024, the Cupertino Parks and Recreation Department and the Youth Activity Board hosted its annual Spelling Bee competition, with more than 35 Cupertino second- to fifth-grade students taking part. Skanda Sadeesh won with the word “Dumpling in the second- to third-grade category, and Ruhaan Pilani won with the word “Limerick” in the fourth- to fifth-grade category – a special thank you to the Cupertino Teen Commissioners who judged the event.
