TREEcycle Scavenger Hunt

This event is completed for 2021.

TREEcycle is a city-wide tree species scavenger hunt that has been designed to encourage exploration, learning, and biking. This game was designed for anyone with a mobile device. This game is open from April 1 - April 22, 2021 to submit a photo and win a prize.

Please read through these directions before beginning.

WHAT YOU WILL NEED

HOW TO PLAY

mission clues 1. Open the TREEcycle app to begin. This will show you a map of the 7 tree's general location.

2. Jump on your bike or travel to the first location. You may complete the tree missions in any order.

3. Once you are at the park, select the tree number associated with your location, read the clues on the TREEcycle web app to help you locate the specific tree described. Then click the FOUND button.

4. This tree will have a question on it. Scan the QR Code on the tree tag to open the City's Tree Plotter App and find the answer to the question. (Make sure to enable geolocation when asked).

5. Once you find the answer, reopen the TreeCycle web app and submit your answer.

6. Once you correctly answer the question, the app will direct you in the location of the next tree.

7. Rinse and repeat to find all 7 tree's throughout Cupertino.

8. Finally, when you have found all 7 tree missions, take a selfie or photo of you under the last tree to upload for a prize. The App will direct you to a link to upload your photo.

Helpful tips:

Do not close the browser app on on your phone or use a incognito/private window because the App will need to store your data by tracking all 7 locations.

PRIZES

Tree In a Box prizes will be available to the first 50 people who find all 7 trees and submit a photo or selfie under a tree.

The TREEcycle App will direct you where to upload the photo after you have found the 7th tree.

A grand prize winner will be selected at random. Grand prize winner will be announced at the Earth and Arbor Day Speaker Series on April 24 and contacted via email.

Fine print:

Only one prize per person.
Prizes will be distributed during the prize pick up day on May 21 between 9 am - 1pm.
Prize winners must live or work in the city of Cupertino.
